Battle of the Sexes: Menswear-inspired

Can't we all just get along? In the spirit of harmony and chic, fashion is mixing menswear-inspired jackets with feminine dresses, skirts and heels. It's a bit of the grunge look of the 80's and 90's, mixed in with the simplistic oxfords and fitted jackets of the 1940's. I know we have all had that moment of looking into a closet full of clothes and finding nothing to wear. So nick something from the boyfriend's! Men's clothes make us women feel powerful and sexy, and (dare I say) look even better on us. I've added in some other great looks and trends that I've been seeing lately on the runway and in editorials— things I hope inspire you.

Trends:

♡Braids braid your hair to one side, and then tease out small sections of hair to get this 'messy' look. To get long, feminine hair you can add extensions for length and volume.

♡Peep-toe this is the shoe that will rock the runways and city streets this spring. Look for it!

♡Eco-friendly as the weather warms up, why not ride your bike? It's a great alternative to driving your car; save money, gas, and the environment! There are some cool foldable bikes available, and electric powered ones too. Plus it's great exercise. 

♡Roger Shimomura A Japanese artist featured at Seattle's Wing Luke Asian Museum, in the International district. I went and visited the museum this past Thursday for my Intercultural Communications class, and was blown away by his art. It is very controversial and reminds me of old comic-book strips mixed with pop art. The exhibit is called "Yellow Terror" and challenges racial stereotypes (mainly racism against Japanese Americans during WWII). check it out!

♡Doppelgänger A huge hit on facebook this week, a doppelganger (for those who don't know) is a celebrity who you look like. My doppelganger (actually two people) is a cross between Kristen Stewart and Megan Fox. What's yours?
